Compassionate Atlanta is a grassroots movement that seeks to raise awareness about the benefits of compassionate action in the Greater Atlanta area. The Compassionate Atlanta Organizing Team, which was formed in 2014, was instrumental in getting the City of Atlanta designated as a Compassionate City. This important step was taken on February 3, 2014 by the City Council of Atlanta and approved by Mayor Kasim Reed on February 12, 2014. In so doing, Atlanta became the second largest metropolitan area in the United States to become a compassionate city.
In April of 2015, Compassionate Atlanta incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 organization. With our Executive Director, Board and Community Engagement Team we are now engaging Greater Atlanta with a variety of initiatives that encourage the the collective consciousness of compassion and compassionate action.
