Where: Route Info is between 4 points and is listed below. Point A begins at the Texaco on Atlanta Hwy in Gainesville, GA.

Background:

Monday will mark the 18-day mark since the passing of Jose DeJesus Elias-Cabrera, Corey Alan Murphy, Nelly Perez-Rafael, Saulo Suarez-Bernal, Victor Vellez, and Edgar Vera-Garcia.

All six were essential workers of Plant # 4 of Foundation Food Group in Gainesville, GA. They were taken from us in a nitrogen leak at the plant that has displaced over 500 workers who are now told they have to return to work without the assurance of the safety to do so.

Most of the workers at this plant are undocumented Latina mothers whose livelihoods have been shaken to the point that they have no choice but to present themselves to work on Monday. As a group of mutual aid volunteers with GA Familias Unidas and over 21 different nonprofits, we are concerned for the safety of Monday’s mandatory work requirements. OSHA has not released any public notice that the workplace is safe for return nor has the administration of the plant given any documented re-assurance to the workers.

We have gotten several calls in the last 18 days of intimidation tactics used to silence workers who witnessed the negligence that took the lives of six of our loved ones. Many workers complained days prior to the incident of debilitating ammonia smells and now fear that company agents and other detectives will retaliate for their attempted requests for safety measures.

We need YOU to come, visibly, so that workers can see solidarity from across the state and so that they can feel empowered in their time of need.
