Rally for Global Vaccine Access
We’re rallying outside of President Biden’s 100 days address. Join us. The location is still TBD, but we will post as soon as we know.
Right now millions in the Global South won’t get vaccines until 2024. This is not only a form of vaccine apartheid and an urgent racial justice issue affecting the most marginalized people in our world, it is also a threat to people everywhere. Letting COVID-19 run rampant threatens more unnecessary deaths, deadly variants, prolongs pandemic safety restrictions, and trillions of dollars in the global economy. Vaccine development was funded with public money, but pharmaceutical companies seem to think they have a right to privatize the profits.
We need 12-14 billion doses distributed this year to people all around the world. To do that, we need to waive patents, share production know-how, and fund vaccine production and distribution. The Biden administration has the power to deliver on all of this.
And yet, his administration is blocking the TRIPS waiver at the WTO, supported by 100 countries, 170 former heads of state and nobel laureates, and hundreds of organization. Join us for a rally outside his address in Atlanta to demand the TRIPS waiver and end the pandemic everywhere.
