Leila Zand, Iranian peace activist, will draw on her personal experience and historical knowledge to challenge the US policy of sanctions and war threats on the people of Iran. She will relay what she learned from a recent Code Pink delegation to Iran in the spring of 2019.
Zand is a scholar-activist, who lived in Iran during the 1979 Revolution and the following years of US economic and political attacks on the government and the people. She emigrated to the US in 2000 and earned a M.A. in Middle East Studies in 2005. She served the Fellowship of Reconciliation as their Middle East Peace director. An author of many articles and a speaker at international conferences, Leila Zand brings a critical analysis of the dangerous consequences of another US military intervention in the war-torn Middle East.
