Rally to Shut Down ICE! Stop Georgia from building the largest ICE facility in the country!
12pm, Monday, January 10
Georgia Capitol, 201 Washington St. SW
With the help of private prison corporation GEO Group, the planned 1800-bed expansion of Folkston ICE Processing Center (FIPC) in South Georgia would make FIPC the largest ICE facility in the country. Instead of keeping his 2020 campaign promise to end the use of private prisons, Biden plans to make Georgia the private prison capital of the United States.
Since the Biden administration has turned its back on the people, there is an urgent need to build a nationwide, independent movement for immigrant rights!
The state of Georgia already has a horrific record of human rights abuses in ICE facilities in just the last year, including unchecked deaths from Covid-19 at Stewart Detention Center and invasive gynecological abuses exposed at Irwin County Detention Center.
The Democrats’ silence on these tortuous conditions demonstrates bipartisan unity on anti-immigrant policies. The rule of multinational corporations and U.S. intervention, like the 2009 coup in Honduras, are to blame for wreaking havoc across both Latin America and Africa, causing refugee crises in the first place, as well as widespread poverty and violence.
The workers’ struggle has no borders!
That’s why we say no more—
No ICE expansion in Georgia! Close the camps!
Down with U.S. imperialism!
Full rights for all immigrants!
