AVP Basic First Level Workshop
AVP workshops are a series of hands-on, experiential, workshops where participants learn conflict resolution techniques to respond non-violently to situations where injustice, prejudice, frustration, and anger can lead to violent words or actions. Learn proven strategies and methods for implementing nonviolent alternatives in your life.

Take this workshop for personal growth or as a first step toward volunteering as a workshop facilitator in the community or in our prisons.
Location: Emory Faculty Office Building, adjacent to Grady Hospital
Saturday & Sunday, September 7th & 8th, 9:00 am — 6:00 pm (both days)
Open to all aged 18 and over.
All AVP administrators and facilitators are volunteers. Lunch is provided both days and registration is required by Wednesday, September 4th at 9:00 pm for all participants. No one is excluded due to lack of funds.
The AVP Workshop series consists of 3 workshops: Basic/First Level, Advanced/Second Level and Training for Facilitators. Those who complete all three workshops are eligible to apprentice on workshop facilitation teams and to become AVP facilitators. This workshop will be a Basic/First Level workshop only. If you have already attended an AVP workshop and earned your Basic certificate, stay tuned for an announcement about our workshop calendar that will include an Advanced/Second Level workshop date. In the meantime please share this event with your friends and contacts!
What if I am not available for the entire two day, Saturday and Sunday workshop?
This experiential workshop is based on building a community which builds trust among participants and requires that everyone be present for all activities. We certainly understand that this is a significant time committment and ask that you only attend if you are able to fully participate for the two days. You will be surprised how engaging and thought provoking this experience will be! If you cannot attend the entire workshop, stay tuned for more workshop dates in 2019 coming soon.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There are MARTA train and bus options available with convenient access to the workshop location. Parking for this event is available for $6 a day at the Grady Hospital Parking Garage. We will send details concerning exact workshop location to registered participants.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Karen at (404) 797-8079 with any questions about AVP or this workshop. We welcome the opportunity to discuss our work in the community and in local prisons.
What’s the refund policy?
We will take registrations and cancellations until Wednesday, September 4th at 9:00 pm. We must have confirmed registrations by then to purchase and prepare materials and food for the workshop. This program is offered entirely by volunteers.
We have established a minimum and maximum number of participants per workshop and will refund all registration payments if the minimum number of participants is not reached.
