On Thursday March 12, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms will deliver her 3rd state of the City address at a 7:30 a.m. meeting hosted by Coca Cola at the Hyatt Regency hotel. While many regular working folks won’t be able to attend, given the time and the location, we are planning a rally to highlight the gentrified state of the City of Atlanta, which is best characterized by the Mayor’s continued displacement of black families out of the city. While the City of Atlanta has a rich past and promising future, currently legacy residents and legacy communities are being gentrified out of the city by mega-development deals (e.g.., the Gulch) and fancy parks and ponds (Meme’s Park in Vine City and Peoplestown park and pond. Atlanta boasts the highest eviction rates in the nation. It is the 4th fastest gentrifying city, and Atlanta is the capital of US inequality.
JOIN US AS WE HIGHLIGHT WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON IN THE CITY WE LOVE– DISPLACEMENT, GENTRIFICATION, AN AFFORDABILITY CRISIS, AN EXPLODING AND UNCARED FOR HOMELESS POPULATION, THE UNLAWFUL USE OF EMINENT DOMAIN AND A MAYOR WHOSE POLICIES AND ACTIONS REFLECT THAT SHE DOESN’T CARE!
YOU WILL SEE US STANDING NEXT TO A HUGE BANNER THAT READS “MAYOR BOTTOMS STOP DISPLACING BLACK FAMILIES”
SEE YOU THERE!
