Join us at the November Democratic Debates to urge that the current primary candidates take a more clear public stand on the continuing imprisonment of Chelsea Manning. As a US Army soldier Chelsea courageously brought to light war crimes and human rights violations during the Iraq war.
We believe that it is relevant to raise cases like those of Edward Snowden, Daniel Hale and Chelsea’s in the context of the current impeachment inquiry around Trump, and the discussion of defending “whistle blowers” like Lt. Alexander Vindman. Trump’s decision this past Friday to pardon three former US soldiers charged with war crimes further underlines this issue.
We also wanted to use this action to show solidarity with Nov. 20th as “Transgender Day of Remembrance”. Since Chelsea has been such an important symbol of the struggles of the LBTQIA+ community we felt that this would be an important day to call for her freedom.
