Join us for a panel discussion with representatives from the Decatur and DeKalb police departments, the DeKalb NAACP, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
What kinds of police training and practices can best ensure that public safety and the special needs of people with mental illness are addressed? What about the mental health problems that the stress of police work can cause for public safety officials? Presentations will include recommendations from advocacy organizations and review of current practices and future plans for the Decatur and DeKalb police departments.
We’ll have time for questions and comments following the presentations. Our discussion will hopefully help promote and encourage community policing that will be supportive of the recovery of those living with mental illness and help improve mental health for all!
