The ArtsXchange, a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary and inter-generational community arts center committed to the advancement of social justice and responsible for nurturing a vibrant art scene in Atlanta, GA since 1983.
ArtsXchange officially opened its new facility with a ribbon-cutting held Jan. 10. The Southeast Community Cultural Center, at 2148 Newnan Street in East Point, welcomed an excited crowd that spilled over from the sidewalk. The exuberant response to the ArtsXchange grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony demonstrated eager anticipation of its cultural offerings and programming. Four new initiatives launched this year—a performing arts incubator, community recording studio, an ongoing series of free classes taught by our two resident artists and the opening of a community library and resource center dedicated to literacy through the arts. Programming includes film screenings, multidisciplinary performances in the Paul Robeson Theatre, community gatherings in the Ebon Dooley Room and exhibits exploring the multiple dimensions of visual arts in the Jack Sinclair Gallery. The goal of the ArtsXchange is to continue to make a difference in the shaping of social and economic justice with art taking the lead. With the help of donations from supporters such as you we will continue to see the impact of the arts and working artist.
